BootsFourKids is collecting new/used footy boots to donate to remote Queensland communities.
Browns Plains Bears are proud to align ourselves with BootsFourKids. A campaign started by Shaun Slater which collects new and used footy boots and delivers them to remote Queensland communities.
Shaun aided a once-off Government program a few years ago which made a similar contribution. “After seeing the success it had I thought why not keep the ball rolling”, said Shaun. He kicked off the BootsFourKids program last December.
“Before donating 93 pairs of footy boots to the Cherbourg Hornets RLFC I managed to collect a massive 385 pairs!”, he said. But the program still needs more.
Shaun has reached out to the NRL who has also donated balls and QRL Clubs such as the Sunshine Coast Falcons and Ipswich Jets are also on board.
Now local Clubs like our very own Browns Plains Bears are proud to take part in this noble idea.
We’re calling out to all families to find last years footy boots and even head gear that doesn’t fit any more, give them a clean up and bring them on down to the Club. We’re going to collect as many as we can for Shaun and his BootsFourKids program.
Please bring them into the office on training nights which is Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 5pm.
Help spread the word for BootsFourKids by liking their Facebook page and get involved!
More what you say? More players and more volunteers!
It’s great to see so many new players join the Bears for 2018 and equally great to see so many Bears from last season continue on to this year. But we still need more!
If you know any kids thinking of playing rugby league this year or wanting to change clubs, please encourage them to join the Bears for the 2018 season. Our executive committee did great things for the Club last year and has even bigger plans to keep the ball rolling this year.
However we can’t do it ourselves! We absolutely need the help of parents and others to keep up the momentum and make sure things get done around the Club.
For starters we would love to have some of our new parents join us for even just an hour at the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser this Sunday at Bunnings Browns Plains. This is a fantastic opportunity to raise much needed funds that the Club can use to obtain new equipment and improve our facilities. This benefits ALL players and everyone else involved with the Club.
It’s really easy. Just stop by this Sunday and introduce yourself or message us before tomorrow via email or on the Facebook page as most people do and let us know you’re coming and what time.
Browns Plains Bears footy Sign On for the 2018 season has been released on our Facebook page.

The Browns Plains Bears R.L.F.C is pleased to announce a brand new major sponsor for the 2018 season. Sam Catalano, the owner of Cineplex Cinemas Australia, has signed on his Redbank Plaza location for the Bears 2018 season.
Cineplex Redbank Plaza is one of six great movie going locations. Many people will be familiar with the old school Hawthorne and Balmoral locations with their nostalgic movie-going feel but Cineplex also has the East covered with a Victoria Point location, South with their Nerang cinemas and centrally near the city with their magnificent Southbank cinemas.
Our new Bears jersey’s will feature the Cineplex Redbank Plaza logo in prime position across the chest and worn with pride. Cineplex has taken up our “Champion” level sponsorship with a host of benefits for them including ground signage and their logo across shirts and jersey’s.
Our new jersey’s will be launched early next year so make sure you stay tuned for that update.
Once again a huge thank you from the whole Committee and members to Sam and his team from Cineplex Redbank Plaza. It’s people like Sam and their kind sponsorships that make new jersey’s and equipment possible.
If you or anyone you know may be interested in sponsoring the Club please contact the President Shane Dunne or Secretary Lee Maddox to go over the Sponsorship Packages.

Steph Hancock will co-captain the Jillaroos in the Rugby League World Cup.
Former Browns Plains Bear Steph Hancock has had a stellar Rugby League career but before she hangs up the jersey she’ll lace on the boots for one more challenge. The Rugby League World Cup.
Steph previously played for the Mighty Browns Plains Bears in the women’s league back in 2011.
Although she comes from humble origins, her skills have taken her to the pinnacle of Rugby League and back again.
The Jillaroos will kick off their World Cup campaign against Cook Islands on Thursday November 16 in Sydney.
They will also meet Canada and England before finals commence in late November.
Tickets to the women’s World Cup are available from http://www.rlwc2017.com.
So to all the parents and players out there just remember that if you set your goals and work hard at being the best you could see your little champion reach the big leagues too.
Browns Plains Bears presentation day is now set and there’s plenty in store everyone!
Masters, Opens & Juniors are set to be presented with their trophies on Saturday September 30th with everything getting underway from Midday.
The Bar will be open and some food will also be available however full canteen facilities may not be.
Make sure you save the date and liaise with your coaches and managers to organize your team and make sure you don’t miss out.
Not only will there be a trophy presentation but the Juniors and families can enjoy the free activities such as face painting, jumping castle, inflatable obstacle course, mechanical football to ride and a dunk tank!
It’s going to be a great day and a great way to wrap up the season by spending time with our mates without the pressure of trying to win a game.
Once again the date is set so make sure you’re there!
Club fundraising efforts help to purchase new canteen equipment.
Raffles, canteen sales, bar sales and new sponsorships are already contributing to club fundraising efforts.
A big thank you to all our volunteers who dedicate their free time to help the Bears raise much needed funds. These efforts are now starting to show with the purchase of a second hand hot-box for the canteen.
The club has struggled through for a while now with our old hot-box but the old girl finally packed it in a few weeks ago. The Club was able to find a used one that was still in excellent condition.
“It’s small things like this that crop up from time to time and it’s great to have some money in the kitty when they do. That money wouldn’t be there without our great volunteers”, said Bears Club Treasurer Tamara Jennings.
The Decider hits the big screen…and you’re all welcome to join us!
This years State of Origin is set to be the best yet. We’re inviting everyone to join us at the Club for all the hard hitting, edge of your seat excitement that State of Origin brings.
The event is a fundraiser with a $20 cover charge which also includes a BBQ meal. The bar will be open to purchase refreshments throughout the night.
The game kicks off at around 8pm but we’re getting things started from 7pm. Raffle tickets will be available on the night with the prize being a football signed by the super coach (and player) himself, Mal Meninga.
We hope to see you there to support your state. What better place to enjoy the footy than at your local footy club.
